SAN FRANCISCO— Nothing in this world is free (at least not in San Francisco, anyway). In spite of that, local online marketplace Good Eggs is giving away a bag of avocados with every order, from Sunday April 19- April 26. So go get em, guacamole masters. [EaterWire]
MISSION— Beretta is hosting another class in their cocktail series, this time focusing on amaro. Learn the history behind the spirit, as well as some skills for making great cocktails. Included are four cocktails, antipasti and pizza (plus two hours of hands-on learning). The class takes place on Monday, April 20 at 7 p.m.; tickets available here. [EaterWire]
OAKLAND— Though Umami Mart has been selling sake and beers for a little while now, the shop has even bigger plans. They're building out an entire section, called the Umami Mart Bottle System, taking up the back wall and adding a fridge. To celebrate, head over on Tuesday, April 21 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. for an opening party, with food from Casa de Kei, music and non-alcoholic beverages (their liquor license won't allow open containers on site). OAKLAND— Sidle up for a tasting of Del Maguey mezcals at Oakland's Doña Tomás (sister restaurant to Xolo and Tacubaya). Lucia Gonzalez of Del Maguey will be on hand to chat about their mezcals, as all nine of Doña Tomás' Del Maguey tequilas will be poured. Free snacks, including chips and guacamole, will be offered. The tasting takes place Wednesday, April 22 from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. [EaterWire]
