Having just cruised past the five-year mark, Yaron Milgrom and the gang at Local Mission Eatery are shaking things up a bit, taking a new approach to their lunch menu and expanding their offerings in the evening. LME's sister bakery, Knead Patisserie, which is located in the back of the space, has assumed responsibility for weekday service, with pastry chef Shauna Des Voignes offering a new selection of savory hand pies and croissants, salads, and sandwiches (including a croque-monsieur and croque-madame). The two businesses will now continue to operate simultaneously only at brunch.

As for the evening menu, Jake Des Voignes is moving to more of a snacking-friendly approach, with a big selection of under-$10 bites like skirt steak skewers, chickpea fritters, and duck liver mousse. To pair with the new food, LME has revamped its wine list, using the selection from sister bottle shop Local Cellar to showcase the full complement of California's natural-wine producers, including rotating "special focus" menus featuring a specific region (right now it's El Dorado County) and winemaker (Donkey & Goat).

The other big news is that LME now has its first tasting menu, which kicks off with a spread of tons of small snacks, followed by six courses like arugula salad, potato gnocchi, and coffee and bay-rubbed pork. At $58/head, it's a pretty reasonable offering; they'll also do a vegetarian version by request.
