It looks like David Kinch, chef-owner and innovator behind the two Michelin-starred Los Gatos restaurant Manresa, will appear on the next season of PBS' The Mind of a Chef. Food Republic announced today that the chef, who typically prefers to stay out of the limelight, will join a venerable list of past participants that includes David Chang, April Bloomfield and Sean Brock, among others.
"In the past, I have kept my private life very private to maintain a certain level of balance, which I think has been very important in both quality of life and work," Kinch told Food Republic. "However, the past couple of years at the restaurant have allowed me to learn a lot about our restaurant team and also a lot about myself. Mind of a Chef will be a great opportunity to explore my life because I am ready to tell that story."
The past couple of years have been trying for the chef, following the two-alarm fire that devastated Manresa in July 2014 and the resulting delay in opening the restaurant's bakery spinoff, ManresaBread. After extensive damage repairs and a little bonus renovation, the restaurant was able to reopen on New Year's of 2015, to continued praise from critics.
Kinch's episode will be part of the award-winning show's fourth season, alongside Gabrielle Hamilton of NYC's Prune; the season in in production now, and is set to air sometime in 2015.
