Insanely popular cookie/ice cream sandwich store CREAM (Cookies Rule Everything Around Me) is now open in Rockridge, just in time for a little burst of summer weather. The super-popular, Berkeley-based chain debuted the new store last weekend, offering free cookie sandwiches all. day. long. The line was predictably insane, as customers waited hours to snag their free treats.
For those who unfamiliar with the concept, CREAM is all about sandwiching ice cream between fresh cookies. Choose a cookie type and ice cream flavor and it's business time. Flavors include cookie options like chocolate chip and snickerdoodle, while ice cream runs the gamut from salted caramel to green tea. They even heat up the cookie before adding the ice cream, so that the two will become one (gluten free and vegan options are available). Ice cream taco creations, fruit bars, milkshakes and floats are also on the menu.
The new location arrives in the midst of a huge expansion for the chain, which boasts 14 stores in Northern California (with one in San Francisco), 5 in Southern California and one in Nevada, with more opening soon.
CREAM is open Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m.- 1 a.m.
