Sexy downtown Paris-inspired spot Gaspar Brasserie christened its second level bar as The Cognac Room last night with a new focus on brandies and brandy cocktails. New barman John Codd (The Slanted Door, 15 Romolo) has put together the cocktail menu, brimming with the largest selection of brandy drinks in San Francisco. The intimate, dimly lit bar remains structurally unchanged with vintage light fixtures, a golden bar top, and a combination of leather lounge seating and bar stools.

There are now 50 $12 brandy-based cocktails on offer. Though the space was named for brandy’s most well known variety, the cocktail menu also showcases armagnac, calvados, eau de vie, pisco, American brandy, and grappa. Flights are also available for the adventurous drinker and range from $18 (Point Blanc featuring Payet Torrentel pisco, Domaine Tariquet armagnac blanche, and Grappa di Barolo) to $230 (Hennesy featuring VS, XO, and Paradis.

In addition, guests who aren’t in a brandy kind of mood can enjoy Gaspar Brasserie’s original drink menu, which features "hi" and "low" octane cocktails, like the Absinthe Frappé and a Champagne Julep. Check out the new cocktail and flight menu right here.
