NORTH BEACH— After a small shuffle in Pete Mrabe's mini-empire of tacos and noodles, Chubby Noodle has moved out of Amante and opened it's doors in the space previously occupied by Pisto's Tacos on Grant Street (which is slated to reopen in Mas Sake's space on Lombard at some point). So, just to be clear: North Beach now has Don Pisto's and a Chubby Noodle and the Marina is home to a Chubby Noodle and future-Pisto's Tacos. All is right with the world. Chubby Noodle North Beach is open Tuesday-Saturday from 5 p.m.-10 p.m. [Hoodline]
SAN FRANCISCO— Meal deliverer Sprig's newest guest chef series features former White House chef Sam Kass. Also a Senior Policy Advisor for Nutrition Policy, Kass isn't messing around with what's going into the bodies of the American people— specifically, people in the Bay Area. The Guest Chef Series (which has featured SF superstars like Matt Accarrino of SPQR in the past) is supposed to present the type of dishes a chef would make on their day off. Kass' menu includes items that throw back to his role as the boss of POTUS' digestive system, including items like grilled steak with poblano sauce and sautéed spinach. A portion of the proceeds from his menu will be donated to Pilot Light, a nonprofit partnering chefs with educators to help children make healthier food services. The menu is available Thursday, June 25 from 4 p.m.- 10 p.m. through the app [EaterWire]
EMBARCADERO— CUESA is offering an educational opportunity to get boozed up and frolic around the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market this Saturday. President of US Bartender's Guild SF, Summer-Jane Bell, will start the workshop off with a craft cocktail, then lead the group on a tour of the farmer's market, followed by instruction on making fresh and fruity drinks like cobblers and brambles at home. The class takes place Saturday, June 27 at noon; tickets available here. [EaterWire]
SOMA— Chef Lauren Kiino (previously chef de cuisine at Delfina) is launching at Chef's Table dinner series at her own spot, Red Dog Restaurant. The first five-course dinner will have the theme of "Roman Feast," including items like crispy artichokes with Parmesan zabaglione and mint. The feast is Monday, June 29 at 7 p.m.; tickets available here. [EaterWire]
