The Butcher's Son, a Vegan Deli, Has Nixed Plans to Open on Solano Ave

Now the owners are hunting for a new space.

Berkeley residents of the vegan persuasion will be bummed to learn that The Butcher's Son has called off plans to open in the old La Farine space on Solano Ave. The "old New York-style" vegan deli and butcher shop had planned to open months ago— now plans are up in the air once again.

A sign has been posted stating that the space is available to lease, and according to Berkeleyside (via Facebook), owner-siblings Peter Fikaris and Christina Stobing have abandoned efforts to open there as the result of "disagreements with the property owners." Much to the frustrations of neighbors, the prime real estate has remained empty for over a year, leaving residents bereft of baked goods (and now, vegan offerings).

In the meantime, Fikaris and Stobing will continue to deliver their vegan lunch boxes on Mondays and hosting pop-ups around the Bay Area. Stay tuned for the siblings' next moves.
