Back in May, SocketSite noted that year-old, recently-renovated Dogpatch bar, The Sea Star, was back on the market. Now the new owners have announced themselves, as Ryan Gilbert (Bloodhound), Alicia Walton (Bloodhound, Comstock Saloon) and Tommy Shaw (Martuni's).
The new crew purchased the reconstituted dive bar from Chris Lawrence and Brad LaMotte of Southern Pacific Brewing, who transformed the divey spot (it was previously Hogan's Goat Tavern, but has been a bar for over a century) into a spruced up take on a classic bar. The new owners plan a remodel, but for now they'll reopen on Thursday, July 2, with 12 taps of craft beers and ciders and a "playful" cocktail program from Walton.
And possibly the most interesting news of all: neighborhood dog-owners will be excited to learn that the new iteration of the Sea Star will allow dogs. Technically it will be "pet-friendly," but I think everyone can agree that cats pair better with tea.
The new Sea Star will be open seven days a week, from 4 p.m.-2 a.m., with happy hour running Monday-Friday from 4 p.m.-7 p.m.
