OAKLAND— Oakland's Kitchen 388 has abruptly shuttered, according to tipster Nick M. Via the restaurant's voicemail, chef-owner Joseph Dunbar confirms the restaurant has been sold— May 31 was the restaurant's last day in operation. The restaurant has closed for extended periods in the past, including a four month-long hiatus in 2012 as a result of chef-owner Dunbar's health issues, but this sounds pretty permanent. Known for its popular meat-centric breakfast and brunch, the restaurant was also recently the site of chef Kevin Schuder's Veg 388 pop-up, a vegan concept that served as a test-run for the upcoming launch of his next venture, Citizen Fox. We've reached out for more information on the new owners; stay tuned for more updates. [Eater SF]

FINANCIAL DISTRICT— After 18 years in business, Globe has shut its doors. The restaurant, which opened to critical success 1997, was a late-night hot spot for chefs and gourmands alike. Inside Scoop reports that owner Joseph Manzare was forced to close abruptly (and reluctantly) after his landlord sold the building out from under him. The historic building, which was once a blacksmith shop in the early 20th century, is now under threat of becoming condos. Manzare told Scoop that if for some reason the city halts development on the building, he would reopen in the same space— otherwise, he plans to find a new place to open next year. Sadly, Manzare shut down without a goodbye party, or even much notice, saying "It was too emotional and I hate goodbyes." [Inside Scoop]

MISSION— Next up on the chopping block is Mission gay bar Truck. After eight years, the bar has been sold to a "first-time bar owner," according to SFist, and plans to close their doors later this month. The dive bar has become well-known for hosting raunchy parties in its tiny space that straddles SOMA and the Mission. There is a series of goodbye parties planned, with the promise of Djs, booze and plenty of memorable events. [SFist]
