Mescolanza, a staple in the Outer Richmond dining scene, closed earlier this year after almost three decades in the same location. At the time, owner Ruben Macedo posted a statement on the restaurant's website, saying only "Mescolanza appreciates your support for the past 27 years, unfortunately we will have to relocate." Macedo and his wife Maria have been running the restaurant since 1998, though he's been on the front lines as a pizza cook since the restaurant opened in 1987.
Now, as quietly as it closed, the popular Italian restaurant stealthily reopened in early July— this time at a new location in the Inner Richmond (3750 Geary Blvd). According to Yelp reviewers, the new spot is just as good as the last, dishing up favorites like a pizza with mozzarella, goat cheese, pears, walnut and prosciutto, and linguine alla vongole.
My wife and I ate at the new location on opening night. We recognized diners at the other tables as regulars from the former location.
We started with pizzetta - mozzarella, goat cheese, pear, walnuts and prosciutto - fantastic - perfectly baked and just as good as the former location. - Peter M./Yelp
The restaurant's hours are Sunday-Thursday from 5 p.m.-9:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
