Last weekend, TAPS Social House and Kitchen shut its doors for good. The exact reason for the shutter is still unknown, though a Facebook update thanking their loyal patrons advised fans to "Stay tuned to see what happens at 1516 Broadway."
Now, just over a week later, it appears that a new and unlikely tenant is already moving in on the prime real estate at Broadway and Polk, by the name of Killer Shrimp Restaurant and Bar. The Marina del Ray-based chain is best known for its signature Killer Shrimp dish, which involves fresh shrimp, "luxurious spicy sauce" and "French bread for dunking." Otherwise the menu seems to offer everything under the sun, from tacos to filet mignon. Additionally, the servers are known for their "edgy style, tattoos and stellar service," which is fun.
Although Russian Hill seems to have upped its dining game in recent months (including upscale Lord Stanley, which happens to be located directly across the street), Killer Shrimp promises to add a different vibe altogether.
The San Francisco outpost will be the company's first venture outside the safe confines of Southern California, where they operate five Killer Shrimp restaurants in Marina del Rey, Santa Barbara and Hermosa Beach. Stay tuned on more info for when (and why) they plan to open.
