Sam's Grill & Seafood Restaurant has been serving classic American cuisine since 1867 to the delight of the many San Franciscans who count it as one of their favorite old school destinations. And while the restaurant has thrived perhaps due in part to the fact that it hasn't changed much over the years, Sam's Grill is mixing things up after 148 years with the introduction of Sam's Seafood Alley, a new patio and bar on Belden Place.
The menu at Sam's Seafood Alley will focus on local, seasonable, and sustainable seafood and include dishes like Clam Chowder, Crab Louie, and Oyster Shooters. Though a few items (mostly salads) are also available inside, the majority of the menu will only be available on the 40-seat first-come, first-served patio.

The focus of the awning-covered space is a teak burl bar where guests can order The Alleycat, a signature cocktail with cucumber vodka, cucumber, and aperol on ice or a assortment of classic martinis and Manhattans. There will also be two beers on tap and a selection of wines handpicked for the patio. Guests who wish for other cocktails may order them at the inside bar to be enjoyed outside.
The patio opens Thursday, August 27 and will serve its menu Monday-Friday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. with a daily happy hour from 5-7 p.m.
