Biergarten Will Serve You Steins At Least Until 2021

The lease was put to vote today at City Hall.

Today was particularly precarious for Biergarten, whose future was put into question by a Board of Supervisors vote this morning about whether or not extend the beer garden’s lease. TL;DR: it was extended through January 31, 2021.

The Board of Supervisors delayed a market-rate housing development project, Hoodline reported, at a hearing where many community members came to voice support for Biergarten (including Souvla’s Charles Bililies and Juice Shop’s Jake Gulick). John Updike, the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development and Real Estate director, proposed that they hold development of the building on that lot until 2021 when another nearby lot is being built. It was enough for a unanimous vote in Biergarten’s favor. Prost.
