As reported last week, a rent hike is pricing long-time hash brown provider Boogaloo's out of the Mission. But as per recent findings, it's not happening this month as first feared. Co-owner Carolyn Blair Brandeis told Mission Local, "For sure we’re not leaving in September. We'll be staying open at least through Christmas, that's our plan." Blair Brandeis' uncertainty is due to recent rent increases, which listed the 3,572-square-foot space at $17,500/mo.
If Boogaloo's, which has served a signature mish-mash of vegetarian-friendly brunch and lunch items every day of the week for the last 18 years, doesn't stay in its current spot (which has of late seen hotshot newcomers Aster, Californios and Lazy Bear move in nearby), Blair Brandeis said they are looking for a new location. "We're just trying to make this work," she said. Stay tuned for more updates on the situation, and get in there for some vegetarian herb cream gravy while you still can.
