Soon adding to the city’s growing all-inclusive food scene will be As Quoted, a new fast casual restaurant set to hit Presidio Heights in February. Sisters Andie and Kara Yamagami have developed a concept modeled after the way they like to eat, with plenty of dairy-, gluten- and soy-free options. “Our slogan is SLOW, which stands for seasonal, local, organic and wholesome,” Andie told Eater. “Our passion is food as medicine.” Andie went to nutrition and culinary school — as well as being nut-, dairy-, gluten- and soy-free herself — and has privately cooked for pregnant women and cancer patients, and she’s using that background to create a menu of globally-inspired salads and open-faced sandwiches with gluten-free bread, smoothies, bone broth-based soups and coffee. There will also be a beer and wine license.
Kara, a real estate developer, is using her expertise for the build-out, which the sisters describe as “really clean and bright.” They’re trying to emulate the casual feeling of a home to attract the neighborhood’s many moms, especially from Day One across the street. Andie will also be developing fresh baby food for the menu. The Yamagami’s anticipate As Quoted — which has no relation to SF’s original AQ — opening in mid-February, and it will be open Mondays to Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
