New year, new guest chef series at Stones Throw, as we like to say. In 2015 the restaurant raised $36,000 for All Stars Helping Kids with the Eat Like a Chef, Drink Like a Somm series, and it looks like it’s not messing around with this year’s lineup. Suzette Gresham (Acquerello), Val Cantu (Californios) and Dominique Crenn (Atelier Crenn, Petit Crenn) will all be taking over the Stones Throw kitchen one night each with the goal of raising money for Old Skool Café, a youth-run, jazz-themed supper club in Bayview. Gresham will be in the kitchen on Monday, January 25, Val Cantu will cook on Monday, February 29 and Dominique Crenn has her turn on Monday, March 28. Tickets, $60 per person, are available here.
Past series chefs include Michael Mina, Nancy Oakes and Anna Weinberg, with the series raising $59,000 for local charities in the last two years. Stones Throw owner Ryan Cole started the series as a way for people to give back locally without having to spend a ton of money at galas or fundraisers.
