Sweetgreen has been creeping ever closer to a San Francisco opening, with Berkeley and Palo Alto getting locations of their own in recent months. Now that time is finally here, and the organic salad chain is opening a SoMa location tomorrow, Tuesday, October 11.

The location (in the former Ovo Cafe) does not stray from the others; customizable, organic-leaning, local salads are on offer in a minimalist, bright space. It’s the 56th store, and by now the Sweetgreen team has got it down. Each location has the same DNA, with some design and food pieces that are unique to the area. For SoMa, that’s a mural by San Francisco artist Jenny Sharaf, as well as produce from Full Belly Farm, Jay Leaf, and more. You can see the SF menu in full here.

It makes a lot of sense for fast-casual Sweetgreen to have chosen SoMa for its first SF spot — there are plenty of worker bees looking to grab sustainable, filling salads on the quick — but it is entering a crowded market. Mixt Greens and Tender Greens both already have locations and strong followings in the neighborhood.

Sweetgreen SoMa opens Tuesday, October 11, and will be open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. There is no delivery, but salads can be ordered ahead on the app to pick up in store. One hundred percent of first day sales will benefit the Center for Urban Education and Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA), which organizes the Ferry Building farmers market and others.
