Russian Hill casual Californian spot Stones Throw is continuing its Eat like a Chef, Drink Like a Somm dinner series in a big way. The final two partners have been announced, and they are Souvla and Del Popolo.
The schedule for the rest of 2016 is as follows:
- October 24: Souvla chef Tony Cervone will serve a multi-course Greek feast served family-style, alongside an all-Greek wine pairing.
- November 14: Del Popolo owner Jon Darsky and chef Jeffery Hayden will park their monster pizza truck in front of Stones Throw for an evening of pies paired with beers curated by Hi Neighbor cicerone Laura Tsim.
Tickets to the low-key dinners are $60 per person, and they take place on the last Monday of each month. Reservations can be made here.
The proceeds from the series are donated to Old Skool Café, a non-profit organization that provides at-risk youth with career opportunities and training in the hospitality industry. Chefs like Michael Tusk (Quince), Dominique Crenn (Atelier Crenn) and Michael Mina have participated in the past, raising thousands of dollars for charity. The series began as an opportunity for food-lovers to give back, without participating in over-wrought galas or fundraisers, with all proceeds going directly to those in need.
