San Francisco’s robust brunch scene has two fun new additions. This month, both Japanese newcomer Nomica and newly-reborn wine bar Mason Pacific will start serving the popular morning meal, in two very different interpretations of the weekend favorite. Both chefs are particularly adept at bread, so the addition of this pastry-heavy meal at both restaurants is extra exciting.
Nomica’s brunch arrives this Sunday, November 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the same over-the-top menu style from chef Hiroo Nagahara as dinner service, which means dishes like cheddar lavender biscuits with miso honey butter or karaage chicken and beer waffle with matcha butter and truffle maple. The drink portion of the menu focuses on champagne, and to highlight that, bubbles will always be half off at brunch. See the menu in full below.
As for Mason Pacific, chef Max Mackinnon continued his refined style at brunch with dishes like a sourdough waffle with maple and bacon or smoked trout with crispy potato and braised leeks. Brunch starts Saturday, November 19 and will run weekends from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. thereafter. Full menu below, too.
