Oprah names Model Bakery English muffins as a “Favorite Thing”

Napa’s Model Bakery English muffins have friends in high places — specifically, Ms. Oprah Winfrey is a big fan, naming the item to her 2016 “Favorite Things” list and calling them “scrumptious all over.” Apparently, she gets special orders from the bakery every so often.

Manresa Bread goes national

You won’t have to travel to the South Bay now (or even anywhere near it) to experience chef David Kinch’s spinoff bakery Manresa Bread. The bakery has now added national shipping, and many of its breads and granola, as well as products like mugs, are available for two-day shipping. Head here to order.

Eatsa Berkeley adds breakfast

The new Berkeley Eatsa had added breakfast to its repertoire, offering to-go quinoa bowls for those in the rush in the morning (AKA everyone, especially nearby students). It is now open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Fairmont San Francisco has a new chef

Laurel Court and Tonga Room both have a new chef at the helm. Oscar Gonzalez has been named executive chef of all of the Fairmont’s culinary operations. He joins from Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, where he was executive sous chef.

Oakland Crush undergoes a name change

Oakland Crush wine shop is now going by “Minimo.” The name change was spurred to reflect the shop’s “commitment to minimal-intervention wines.”
