Nabolom Bakery Has Reopened, Now With Pizza and Warm Fuzzies

The beloved bakery is back on its feet.

After Berkeley's Nabolom Bakery closed last summer, the fate of the 40-year-old collective was uncertain. Though beloved by the neighborhood, the business had lost key members and fallen into debt.

Luckily for fans of Nabolom's cinnamon twists, challah and other baked goods, Julia Elliott responded, purchasing the collective with business partner Sabra Stepak. Now, after a some deep cleaning, painting and updating, the space is ready to roll, using some of the collective's recipes alongside new ones, including pizza by the slice or pie. It's with good reason, as Elliott worked with the Cheese Board Collective for over a decade. And she'll have some help, according to Berkeleyside, who reports that Aron Ford (of Nick's Pizza and now-shuttered Nick and Aron's) is involved in the project, alongside Sweet Adeline's Sasha Crehan.

In addition to some of the old favorites, Elliott is serving a daily pizza, changing based on what's available. On opening day, guests ordered mushroom with porcini pesto, yellow onion, French feta, mozzerella, garlic and olive oil; the menu tomorrow will be tomato and herb.

This week only, hours will be: Monday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m.- 7 p.m. Future hours to be announced.
