FOB Kitchen has been popping up at Gashead Tavern in the Mission since the summer, and in that time it has evidently impressed the owners, who have decided to take on FOB Kitchen full-time, giving Janice Dulce the chance to make her grandmother’s Filipino recipes with a twist five days a week. Adobo pork, Shanghai lumpia, pancit, and fried eggs and bistek at brunch are just some of what Dulce has been making, and she now plans to up the ante with the extra time. Sinigang (a more complex sour tamarind soup with pork and bok choy) and beef mechado (beef stew with red bell pepper, tomatoes and shoestring potatoes) are just two new dishes on tap.
FOB Kitchen is just the latest pop-up to find a home in a pre-existing space, most recently with Sneaky’s BBQ at Southpaw (not to even mention all those pop-ups that have gone permanent). FOB Kitchen will be open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and brunch Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
