Mina Test Kitchen’s Long-Awaited Indian Concept, The Company, Is Open

Mina Group is upping its spice levels.

Patricia Chang

The Company, brainchild of Mina Group wine director Rajat Parr and chef Vikrant Bhasin opens in the Marina tonight, the third pop-up to rotate through the test kitchen. Named after the English East India Company, the concept offers a men of classic Indian dishes with California ingredients, plus a beverage menu of spicy cocktails, rieslings and syrahs.

The menu is a tasting menu with choice of seven, nine or eleven dishes, that will be chosen by the kitchen. Dishes like pakora chaat, bainghan barta, and kofta made with Sonoma lamb are all inspired the background of Bhasin and Parr. Bhasin, who has traveled to San Francisco from Honolulu especially for this three-month gig, is originally from Bombay and has cooked throughout the states. Incidentally, this isn't Bhasin's first stint in the Bay Area— he originally worked for chef Mina at Michael Mina in 2008, as a sous chef.

Reservations can be made via Resy on Wednesday through Saturday from 5:30 p.m.- 10:00 p.m.
