San Francisco International Airport is basically the newest restaurant hot spot in town. Mustard’s Grill and Samovar Tea Lounge are set to open there, and now 1300 on Fillmore is joining the party. Chef/owner David Lawrence is adding a second location of his Southern spot to the international terminal, post-security. “The airport was looking for local restaurants, and we represent Fillmore. We’ve been here for nine years now,” Lawrence told Eater.
The airport location will be a bit more casual (though probably pricier, due to airport fees) than the original, with more of an emphasis on sandwiches, like fried chicken and po boys, and pick-up food that’s easily taken to go. Lawrence is particularly excited at the idea of his shrimp and grits traveling the globe. “I couldn't wait to bring my shrimp and grits to the airport,” he said. “I can see people taking shrimp and grits and flying all over the world with them.” The restaurant, which Lawrence expects will debut in January 2017, will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Stay tuned for more details.
