East Coast transplants can continue to rejoice: The Halal Guys, the popular New York street food vendor, has announced plans to open a third Bay Area location in San Jose.

Franchisee Patrick Mock told Eater that the third location will open in San Jose's The Plant, a massive shopping plaza built on the former site of a General Electric plant. According to Mock, the 1,200 square-foot space at 81 Curtner Avenue, Suite 20 is currently in the final stages of buildout and hiring employees, with an estimated opening in May. That means San Jose's restaurant might even open before Berkeley and San Francisco's Tenderloin locations, both of which are currently slated for summer.

Given the imminent opening of popular Taiwanese dumpling spot Din Tai Fung in the nearby Westfield Valley Fair mall, San Jose residents are winning the "cult favorite" food game at the moment. Or maybe they're just getting a head start in the massive lines that are sure to erupt in the very near future. Stay tuned for more updates or head over to The Halal Guys NorCal for more info.
