Chef/owner Alexander Alioto has been trying to make his space at 280 Valencia St. work for years. Starting with Plin, Alioto opened in 2014 to some excitement, landing on the Heatmap for six months and earning 2 ½ stars (a decent rating) from Chron critic Michael Bauer. It wasn’t enough, though, and Alioto told Eater in August that, "I think we were missing the mark a little bit for the neighborhood and for locals. Plin was more of a destination than a local spot. We want to cater to our neighborhood and the people there and offer that look and that concept of food to our neighbors."

That’s when he decided to change the concept to the more casual Nostra Spaghetteria, which debuted just a month later with a make-your-own-pasta option and deep happy hour deals. Yet, it still doesn’t seem to be enough, as the space is now for sale (h/t Capp Street Crap). For $550,000, the 3,751-square-foot space comes with a full liquor license and a $12,503 per month rent.

The space, which sits on a relatively sleepy block of the Mission, has seen a lot of turnover in recent years, including Conduit and Another Monkey. Eater has reached out to Alioto for comment. Stay tuned for more details.
