Two ambitious restaurants are set to hit SoMa this summer. From Erik Sun, an investor at Bestia in Los Angeles, the concepts both focus on Asian food and pull from Sun’s Hong Kong heritage. The first — Arsenal at 715 Brannan St. — has a lot going on in the 2,000-square-foot space. There will be barbecue grills at every table, a casual omakase chef’s table, a lunch and late night 10-seat noodle bar and beer, wine and sake.
The second concept — The Hunted at 445 Harriet St. — is a roomy 6,000 square feet and will show off Sun’s hunting and spearfishing skills with displayed live seafood and large format whole animal meals cooked over wood and charcoal. This one will have a full liquor license. There’s a wine cellar and basement in the works with a rustic Japanese design from architect Alan Tse.
Arsenal is targeting a July opening while The Hunted is planned for late summer or early fall.
