Noted musical foodie and late night TV bandleader, Questlove was in town this week to put in a couple plugs for his new book Something to Food About. The book is presented a series of conversations about creativity and innovation with notable chefs like the Bay Area's own Dominique Crenn and Daniel Patterson, among others. (With forward by Anthony Bourdain, of course.) According to the man himself, the book is "the study of creativity & the discipline some of the best chefs use for their art (and how it relates to music creativity)."
So it seems he had a legitimate excuse to go on a whirlwind food tour and document the whole thing on Instagram. First up, Quest hit Atelier Crenn last weekend, where he says every dish is "art, even the menu is a poem." A day later, he was 'gramming the titular quail dish at State Bird Provisions. By Wednesday, he was in the Mission slicing open the city's most photographed pastry: the Rebel Within at Craftsman & Wolves, where foodie conspiracy theorists floated the idea that the egg is actually stuffed in the muffin after baking somehow. This is, of course, both dumb and wrong.
