Tony Gemignani Wins Yet Another World Pizza Championship; The Bywater Opens Its Patio

Plus, Vice takes a stab at San Francisco and Wente Vineyards turns 30

NORTH BEACH — San Francisco’s reigning pizzaiolo Tony Gemignani has yet again won the World Pizza Championships, this year being his 12th win. This year’s winning pie was made with seven-grain dough, Grande and Stanislaus cheeses, Menu Regati Tomato’s, wild boar prosciutto, goat cheese and Aiello. Plus, Laura Meyer, who heads up the Tony’s kitchen, placed in the top 10 out of 379 competitors in the Classica division. [EaterWire]

LOS GATOS — The Bywater, David Kinch's casual New Orleans-inspired spot, is opening its patio this weekend, adding 18 table and five bar seats outside with a separate bar and the full menu. Walk-in only. [EaterWire]
