Update, 8/8/17: This article previously stated that chef Prem Tamang was opening Cuisine of Nepal as an expansion of Little Nepal; this is incorrect, the new restaurant was not an expansion.
---
After 10 years of successfully running one of the very few Nepalese restaurants in San Francisco, chef Prem Tamang is opening his own. Just a few blocks away from Little Nepal, Tamang will open Cuisine of Nepal on Saturday, May 14. Cuisine of Nepal will also have dishes specific to Tamang’s home village in Nepal. Tamang’s background is in cooking at high altitudes for people hiking the Himalayas, so expect some hearty meals.
The space will have 30 seats that line natural wood walls accented with bright colors and photographs of Nepal’s landscapes. Cuisine of Nepal will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (with free [!] delivery.) Tamang is throwing an opening day party on the 14th from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a $5 menu of one appetizer, two entrees, rice, naan and Lal Mohan dessert
