It's Annual Bauer 'Top 100 Restaurants' Day

See which restaurants made the cut

Day in and day out, rock star Chron critic Michael Bauer dines out around 21 times a week, braving the high-sodium, high-fat diet that comes with eating at restaurants all for one thing: you. And your reward for that hard work is weekly blandly-written reviews, plus the annual drop of his Top 100 Restaurants list.

Today brought the 2016 edition, and as it goes, some restaurants must be dropped off for others to be added. Nineteen places departed — including Bauer's usual favorite Cafe at Chez Panisse — for 19 others to have their year in the sun. Many were restaurants not in the city (Molina, Sante, Scopa), which makes sense given the stellar crop of city arrivals in 2015 that were added (Lord Stanley, Octavia, Old Bus Tavern, Trestle, Petit Crenn, more). Obvious new additions include Bauer’s favorite new restaurant of 2015, Cala, and recent stunner Volta. Others, like Commis and Bix, have been quietly excellent for a while but are finally getting their due. Check out the full list of additions and removals below, and let us know if you agree in the comments.
