Mac Daddy, the paternally-named cheese-and-carbs reincarnation of Dat Spot and Chez Maman, is now open for business in Potrero Hill. The Mac Daddy himself, chef Brandon Peacock (Lungomare, Mua), is dishing up a dozen or so variations on the comfort food staple (plus gluten-free versions of all) in the teeny 14-seat spot.
With a relatively straightforward menu in such a small space, it’d be hard to ruin a good thing. And the reviews (all ten of them) for Peacock’s mac and cheese have been overwhelmingly positive so far. The headliner Mac Daddy classic with short ribs was described as "pretty solid," and "HUGGGEEEE," and one diner, who admits she is perpetually disappointed by macaroni and cheese, says it "redefined my hopes for what Mac n cheese could even taste like." So if your faith in macaroni has been wavering, you apparently need to head to Potrero Hill.
Mac Daddy is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. While it's not doing delivery at the moment, everything is available for take-out and there's even a dog-friendly, outdoor heated seating area.
