Newcomer 2 Tread Brewing Company has announced plans to open in downtown Santa Rosa, and join the likes of craft beer royalty, Russian River Brewing Co. The brewery will include a restaurant and beer garden in a large 10,000 square-foot space at the Santa Rosa Plaza.
The concept comes from co-owners Billy Drury, Tracy Heydorn and Christian August, former head brewer at Firestone Walker. As avid cyclists and hikers, the name is a tribute to the two treads of tires and hiking bots. The trio plans to brew about 1,200 barrels in the first year, which will be primarily sold at the brewery's indoor-outdoor restaurant, which will include a full bar.
According to the website, the menu will be "NorCal pub fare," including items like grilled cheeses, hot sandwiches, pizzas and salads. Beer styles will vary, including the brewer's takes on classics, from cream ales to IPAs and "modern farmhouse ales."
Stay tuned as the brewery's construction gets under way, with a planned opening in fall of 2016.
