As part of its ongoing effort to revitalize itself, Ghirardelli Square now has a pop-up beer garden in its West Plaza. Starting Thursday, May 26 — just in time for Memorial Day — and running through the summer, Lagunitas Brewing Company has created a space with long communal tables to overlook the Bay while drinking beer and eating food from any of the square’s restaurants. Open Thursdays through Sundays from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. (plus Memorial Day), the space has $7 Lagunitas IPA, Pils, A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’, and Lucky 13, plus free pretzels, peanuts, and Hint Water (another sponsor in addition to Lagunitas).
Live music will rotate all summer long, and food can be brought in from any of the Square’s restaurants, like Waxman’s, Le Marais Bakery, The Pub, and more (or any restaurant at all). Half of proceeds from the beer garden will benefit local organizations like SOMA Arts and the San Francisco Parks Alliance.
