Here's Who Won James Beard Awards in SF

No one.

Official

This must be how LA usually feels the day after the prestigious food awards, which took place in Chicago last night.

After years of Beard snubs, Los Angeles managed to take home three of the coveted medals, while San Francisco took home exactly zero. It's an interesting change of pace, especially considering San Francisco's current boom times and designation by many in the food world as "the best dining city in America" right now. San Francisco hospitality folks were nominated in eight categories, including Best New Restaurant (Liholiho Yacht Club) and Outstanding Chef (Michael Tusk, Quince).

Three SF chefs were nominated for Best Chef West, comprising half of the nominee pool: Matt Accarrino of SPQR, Dominique Crenn of Atelier Crenn and Corey Lee of Benu. It was a tough competition, and the title ultimately went to talented chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo of LA's Animal.

Outstanding Chef went to Suzanne Goins of Lucques, LA and Outstanding Pastry Chef went to Dahlia Narvaez of Osteria Mozza, LA.

So, congratulations to all the winners and better luck next time, San Francisco.
