SF's Heavy Hitters Band Together for a Casual $600 Dinner

Dominique Crenn, Corey Lee and Christopher Kostow are just a few of the chefs involved

Following last year's surprise kitchen-swapping dinner series, the zany chef's collective GELINAZ! is heading back to San Francisco for another top chef-saturated event called "Walk With Us: Beyond Food and Evil." This time, it's a crazy talented lineup of 16 chefs, who will put on two dinners simultaneously at Corey Lee's restaurants, Benu and soon-to-open In Situ.

The concept is complicated and over the top, per usual. Chefs will be divided into two teams of eight between the two restaurants, and work in pairs to create multi-course tasting menus based on four chosen ingredients. Then each pair will share the recipe with the other teams at their restaurant, who will recreate the recipe with their own "personal spin and flair." The point is to showcase how different chefs use the same ingredients, and create a 16 course "performance" out of a typical four course meal. The five hour long ordeal is limited to 40 diners at each restaurant and at  $600 per person (including wine, taxes and gratuity), it's not for the faint of heart.

It's an interesting concept by GELINAZ, which is led by Andrea Petrini and Alexandra Swenden, bringing their brand of culinary disruption to SF and simultaneously recognizing it as one of the world's best dining cities (duh). This is the third of the Walk With Me series, following dinners in Sao Paulo and London earlier this year, and will take place July 11; tickets go on sale June 1.

The chef lineup is full of big names from all over the world, but has a hefty lineup of SF-based talent, including a veritable constellation of Michelin stars. Check out the full list below, then tell us: would you pay $600 per person?
