Ippudo to Bring World-Renowned Ramen to San Francisco [Updated]

The cult New York and Tokyo ramen shop is hitting the Bay Area big-time

Panda Express is staying true to its promise to "develop and expand the [Ippudo] brand in the US." After it partnered with the world-renowned ramen shop, Ippudo found a space in Berkeley — and now, there will be one in San Francisco, too. The company confirms to Eater that it is expanding to SF.

The space is much bigger than Ippudo’s average store, with 4,700 square feet, which would certainly help ease the crush of ramen-hungry obsessives sure to rush the space upon opening. The tonkotsu-style ramen and beloved pork buns daily inspire upwards of two hour waits at its two Manhattan locations and originated in Japan with locations now in China, London, Sydney, and more.

Ippudo reps tell Eater to anticipate a March 2017 opening. Stay tuned for updates as that date nears.

Update, 4:07 p.m.: An Ippudo representative tells Eater that Ippudo is not moving into Lark Creek Steak; rather, it is just taking over that liquor license. Correct address to come.

Update, 6/14, 1 p.m.: Ippudo confirms the address for the new location is 18 Yerba Buena Ln., connected to the Four Seasons Hotel and Residence, putting it smack in between the downtown Delarosa and Bluestem Brasserie.
