The Restaurant at Meadowood is inarguably one of the best restaurants in the world. It has three Michelin stars, and numerous other accolades under its belt.
But, that does not include a spot in the top 50 restaurants in the world, according to the World's 50 Best (formerly known as San Pellegrino's World 50 Best Restaurants), an international ranking organization.
In advance of the much-hyped reveal of restaurants 1-50 on the list, the organization likes to stir up speculation of who will or won't make it this year by revealing the runners up (restaurants 51-100). This year, The Restaurant scored a spot at #67, ahead of Manresa (#83) and The French Laundry (#85, following a demotion from the top 50 this year).
To celebrate this somewhat nebulous achievement, Meadowood has taken to Instagram to demonstrate the many ways that its team members excel at being 67th, including catwalking, poetry reading, kohlrabi juggling and making lemondrop martinis. Are they being sore losers, or are they successfully poking fun at a semi-meaningless ranking of "a collection of male-run tasting menu venues voted upon by judges who don't have to pay for their meals?" If the latter, they definitely deserve better than #67.
We'll keep you posted on the World's 50 Best Restaurants announcements, happening tonight.
