Magnolia Gastropub & Brewery has long been a stalwart of The Haight for group hangs, craft beer consumption, and bar flies in the neighborhood. And while the food was good, it was certainly bar first, restaurant second. But times they are a-changing, and founder Dave McLean has decided it was high time to up the food ante at Magnolia. McLean enlisted the help of chefs David Bazirgan (Dirty Habit) and Freedom Rains (Belga), as well as the restaurant’s director of operations Brian Reccow to completely redo the food program.
So the quartet got to work creating all-new dinner, brunch, and lunch menus inspired by the English pub, but with Bay Area "sensibilities." "Ultimately we set out to elevate what ‘beer food’ can be today, with 19 years of our own history to reflect on and reference," Mclean said. The menus now feature more food than before, with sections for snacks, mains, soups and salads, and an expanded housemade sausage and charcuterie program. You can see all three menus in full below, which will be executed daily by Magnolia chef Roque Mendoza.
