The Twitter Food Council exists now

Twitter is really getting down with food porn, following the creation of the ominous sounding Twitter Food Council. 17 chefs and food writers have signed on to tweet, Vine and Periscope food to death, including participation in special online events, and product testing. Ayesha Curry and Michael Mina are representing the Bay Area, and have already unleashed even more content on their already active social media accounts. Use #FoodFlock to join in the convo.

Five of the Bay’s Best Food People, according to SF Mag

San Francisco Magazine has released their "Best Chef" awards for 2016. The big winner is Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu’s, whose menu of modern takes on traditional Chinese food has infused Chinatown (and San Francisco) with energy. Awards for Rising Star Chef, Wine Director of the Year, and Pastry Chef of the Year, and Restaurateur of the Year were also awarded.

The bakery from chef David Kinch and head baker Avery Ruzicka is growing, with the addition of 200-square-feet, and a full beverage program. There’ll be espresso drinks from Verve Coffee, as well as chai and kefir on tap. The remodel is happening now, with an August reveal in the works.

Gilroy garlic fries threaten the breath and waistlines of Bay Area

After going gangbusters during a test run in May, Bay Area McDonalds are officiallyrolling out its Gilroy garlic fries to 250 locations, starting July 22. The fries are made to order and tossed with a "puree mix" of chopped Gilroy garlic, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, parsley and salt. So, grab some gum and prepare for a stinky feast.
