Sports and beer are staples in our country, and while other cities may focus on just Budweiser and football, an SF sports bar has so much more to offer. A prime example: Buzzworks, which is now open in SoMa, where there are 40 craft beers on tap and another 100 by the bottle, with 21 big-screen TVs and a 15-foot projector for every sport imaginable.
"Our goal is to be one of the premiere destinations for craft beer in the city," co-owner Chris Mund told Eater. "All of our `beertenders` will have passed the cicerone test; they'll be certified beer servers. We also want to do a bunch of education." The focus is mainly on beer and sports watching in the bi-level space, but there are also some pinball machines downstairs.
As for food, the crew is working out a system to let you order from nearby restaurants like Butter, Canteen, DNA Lounge, and Basil, but for now, a limited menu is on offer with snacks like chips and salsa, pasta salad with artichoke hearts, and banana bread.
Buzzworks is open at 365 11th St. on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 12 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
