Woods Island Club Brings Beer on the Beach to Treasure Island

Look around the new brewery that has sweeping city views

Known for its quirky beers (Girl Scout cookie variations included), Woods Beer Co. has several locations throughout San Francisco and the East Bay, and as of tomorrow, Saturday, July 9, it will add a location in the Bay. Located beachfront on Treasure Island at 440 California Ave., the new Woods Island Club is a massive (4,350 square feet) old airplane hangar with an additional 4,000 square feet of beach space, too.

Everyone of all ages is welcome, but be forewarned that the space is pretty sparse, especially for children. There’s no seating inside, aside from a few bar stools, nor any tables, which is intentional — owner Jim Woods wants to encourage people to head to the palm tree-filled beach outside and gaze up at the sweeping view of the Bay Bridge and the city from some beach chairs.

Beer is offered at bars both inside and out, and is aged on-property in 40 wine barrels, filled with brews like the flagship Yerba Mate IPA, Morpho Herbal ale, and some sour ales. There are eight beers on tap inside, and an additional four outside. Food, on select weekends, will come from a rotating selection of food trucks.

Woods Island Club opens tomorrow, Saturday, July 9 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and will be open on select weekends after that (full schedule posted here).
