It has been a steady upward climb for Iza Ramen, the Lower Haight ramen shop that started as a weekend-only pop-up in Blowfish Sushi for the first two years of its life. Then, back in October, it opened its first brick-and-mortar at 237 Fillmore St., and apparently business has been so good that it is already time for another location.
Now, Iza Ramen is taking over 1155 Folsom St., and has just started the process by applying for its beer and wine license. There will still be all the ramen you know and love, but chef/owner Ritsuo Tsuchida also plans to expand his repertoire with this location through a larger izakaya-style tapas menu and lunch.
Iza Ramen’s Tomoko Sugiyama cautions, though, that this location is still a few months out, as the team is planning a bigger build-out than its original location. Still, he anticipates the SoMa store to open this fall. Stay tuned for more details.
