Bay Area water contains cancer chemical

Paging Erin Brockovich: A new study has found that the tap water for tens of thousands of Bay Area homes contains a rising level of Chromium 6, the same chemical Brockovich fought against. NBC reports that the problem is not as extreme here, but could cause a greater risk for stomach cancer if consumed repeatedly over decades.

Bon Marche’s first pop-up pops up

Mission lesbian bar Lexington Club may no longer be open (Wildhawk now occupies that space), but its memory lives on through a plaque dedicated to the space, Hoodline reports.

Blue Note Napa sets opening date

The Napa opera house has been transforming into a jazz-themed supper club, and now Napa Valley Register reports that Blue Note will make its official debut on October 25. Blue Note currently has locations in New York City, Tokyo, Honolulu and has plans to open three more locations in Beijing this year. The culinary team has yet to be announced.

Nick's Cove chef shuffle

Mission Beach Cafe chef Joshua Seibert is now heading up the kitchen at Nick’s Cove, Inside Scoop reports. He’s already started to change the menu, adding locally-inspired dishes like a toasted quinoa salad with citrus vinaigrette, delicata squash, mixed greens, curried yogurt, and shaved Point Reyes Toma cheese, as well as a rosemary-brined pork chop with red wine braised cabbage, potato latke, beet puree, and baked Fuji apples with bordelaise sauce.
