AQ has just one more day to go

Due to rising costs and decreasing business, the seasonally-focused AQ announced its closure earlier this year. Now, owner Matt Semmelhack has put an official date on the shutter: this Saturday, January 14. Semmelhack tells Inside Scoop that there has been great support from “old customers and regulars,” and that Mercer Restaurant Group will now focus on Mexican restaurant next door Fenix.

Get ready for Almanac beer at the Ferry Building

The Ferry Building’s Saturday farmers market is getting increasingly boozy, with Pacifica’s Triple J Cellars recently starting to sell its organic plum and apple wines. Now, Almanac Beer Co. is joining in on the fun and selling a small selection of seasonal barrel-aged beers, featuring produce from different farms. The three inaugural beers feature Mariposa plums, Blossom Bluff nectarines, and Hamada Farms citrus. Almanac is having a great month — beyond this addition, it opened its brand-new 24th street taproom.

Bernal Heights’ Cafe St. Jorge undergoes some changes

New owners are taking over Cafe St. Jorge in Bernal Heights, after founder Andrea de Francisco decided to step away from the business for unknown reasons. The Saleh family will now be running the show, but they’re keeping the staff, menu, and decor just the same.
