Ichi Sushi chef/owner Tim Archuleta had a very tough 2016. Severe health issues, including several surgeries, forced the decision to close Ichi Sushi + Ni Bar and move the operations to the old, smaller space at 3369 Mission St.
The ordeal left the Archuletas with significant personal financial obligations, and they started a GoFundMe for help. Now responding to that call is Corridor, Stones Throw, and Trestle owner Ryan Cole, who has organized a huge fundraiser with much of the San Francisco restaurant community. Flour & Water, Octavia, State Bird Provisions, Namu Gaji, and The Riddler are just a few of many restaurants participating in a marquee evening of eating, drinking, and dancing on the 29th floor rooftop of 100 Van Ness.
Twelve restaurants and bars — Corridor, Flour & Water, Namu Gaji, PizzaHacker, Deli Board, Lolinda, Waterbar, The Front Porch, Mission Chinese, Blue Plate, Belga, Cathead’s BBQ, Mr. Tipples Recording Studio, and The Riddler — will set up stations of food and drink, in addition to a live band from Mr. Tipples to start things off and a DJ later in the evening. A raffle with $15 tickets includes prizes such as dinners at State Bird Provisions, Monsieur Benjamin, Tosca Cafe, Mina Test Kitchen, and more, with a grand prize of 12 $100 gift certificates to restaurants across the city.
“If you know Tim and Erin, they will be the first people to do anything they can to help everybody else,” Cole told Eater SF. “They have supported us at charity events, and when we read about it, we were like, ‘This could be any of us.’ And of all the people for that to happen to? Them? That sucks.”
Tickets to the outdoor event (so be prepared for any weather) on Monday, January 30 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. are now on sale here for $60. All proceeds will benefit the Archuletas.
