Halal Guys is inching closer and closer to solving San Francisco’s cravings for chicken and rice drenched in red and white sauce. The first SF location opens this Friday at 340 O’Farrell St., straddling the line between the Tenderloin and Union Square.
It’ll be a change of pace for fans of the OG halal cart in NYC, where diners line up down the block for a container of the good stuff. The SF location is brightly colored, well-lit, and has all the charm and pep of a new McDonald’s. The Guys’ signature red and yellow color theme is found throughout, from the glossy tabletops to the employees’ uniforms.

The menu will be the same as all other locations, offering chicken, beef gyro, a combo of chicken and beef, or falafel as a sandwich ($7.99), or platter ($8.99 for small, $9.99 for large), plus hummus, baba ghanouj, and fries.

The downtown location will be an ideal destination for quick mid-day meals, or late night drunken feasting. It will be open til 4 a.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday, which makes it one of the latest late night options in sleepy San Francisco.
