Tomorrow night, Wednesday October 11th, legendary tiki bar Trader Vic’s will team up with UNICEF to provide hurricane relief for victims in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. One hundred percent of the proceeds from bar sales from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. will go directly to UNICEF’s relief fund.

Curry Up Now’s Diwali celebration

India’s festival of lights meets the Bay Area’s tikka masala burritos at Curry Up Now on October 19th. In addition to the local mini-chain’s playful fusion dishes like sexy fries and naughty naan, they’ll be serving up traditional Indian dishes like thali platters and kathi rolls while diners at the San Jose, San Mateo, Palo Alto and Alameda locations can enjoy traditional music, bindis, candies and henna tattoos.

Chinatown gets a puppy-themed Boba shop

Hoodline reports on the opening of a new crepery and Boba tea shop called Puppy Bobar at 1142 Grant Ave (at Broadway). What sets Puppy Bobar apart, aside from the puppy dog theme, are the sweet and savory crepes, plus three flavors (vanilla, green tea and mango) of Mitchell’s ice cream. Unfortunately, there appear to be no actual puppies.
