4505 Burgers & BBQ Will Deliver to the East Bay Starting Next Week

The brick-and-mortar restaurant is delayed til next spring

4505 Burgers & BBQ chef/owner Ryan Farr is still planning to open his Oakland location in the Laurel District — it’s just going to be a bit longer than he anticipated. That’s why, in the meantime, he’s launching a long-term pop-up with Caviar.

Starting next week, denizens of the East Bay can order 4505 for dinner every Thursday- Sunday until the brick-and-mortar restaurant opens. There’ll be brisket, chicken, and pork available as plates or sandwiches, sausages, all the classic sides and sauces, plus frankaroni (the insane slabs of fried macaroni studded with hot dog chunks). Farr says sandwiches will also be available “Roger-style,” which is the addition of sausage. (It’s named after the restaurant’s piggy mascot, Roger.)

Farr says he’s currently looking at a spring 2018 opening for the restaurant, which is going into the former location of Glenn’s Hot Dogs on MacArthur Blvd., with a menu identical to the Divisadero location. When he announced the expansion, Farr said “All we’re doing is adding the barbecue — they’ve been doing hot dogs and burgers here forever.” He’ll add in a whole-hog barbecue smoker, too.

“We already feel very welcomed by the Oakland community,” Farr told Eater SF. “We’re just really eager to get open and start serving barbecue there, and because of the delays [in opening the restaurant] it just seemed like an obvious choice.”

Smoked meat fanatics can quiet the hunger within beginning next Thursday, November 2 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m., and every Thursday-Sunday thereafter.
