Eat Like a Chef, Drink Like a Somm series closes out fourth year
James Beard award winning chef Nancy Silverton of LA restaurants Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza is coming to San Francisco for one night only, where she’ll participate in the Eat Like a Chef, Drink Like a Somm dinner series at Stones Throw on October 30. Silverton, often credited with popularizing artisanal breads in California, opened La Brea Bakery in 1989. Her dinner is $70 per person, with optional wine pairings for an additional $55. It’s the second to last Eat Like a Chef, Drink Like a Somm dinner of the year, a series that’s in its fourth year overall, and has raised more than raised over $110K for charities like the SF-Marin Food Bank. The final dinner of the year will be with Chris Cosentino (Cockscomb, Acacia House) on November 13.

Rainforest Cafe cut down
Unbeknownst to the public, the Rainforest Cafe location in tourist friendly Fisherman’s Wharf, has apparently been endangered, and now it’s gone. The two story restaurant, known more for its animatronic animals and tropical decor than its food, closed with no advanced warning after more than 15 years.
